and your satisfaction is our top priority. We pierce in tandem for lobes and nipple piercings.
There is no wait at American Gypsy Tattoo for our walk-in piercings. We have an open concept shop and that gives our artists the ability to see when a client or group of clients enter the shop, allowing us to take a break from tattooing immediately and provide piercing service. We guarantee no more than a 15 minute turnout on all piercings.

David Justice is a master piercing artist, with 14 years of experience. David and Shelby manage all piercings at American Gypsy Tattoo.
"I believe the key to mastering piercings is to complete it before the client realizes it's done. The quicker it's over with, the happier people are," David says.
They are both perfectionists in all their arts and go above and beyond to satisfy each client's needs. Every needle is individual use and we have a certificate of sterilization for our tools.
At AGT we specialize in infant lobe studs. David and Shelby pierce these in tandem so the child only suffers it once. We use single-use needles only (no gun). We are one of the few shops in the area that provide this service. Parents who want their infants' ears pierced may bring their own jewelry (surgical stainless steel piercing studs) or we provide standard quartz and steel balls, which are included in the price. We charge $20 if the child is 4 years old or older. For infants under the age of 4 we charge $40.

Piercing Care Instructions
EXTERNAL PIERCING
- Do NOT twist, spin or turn piercing. We recommend not cleaning the piercing at all, it can create more irritation. The body does enough healing on it's own.
- For six weeks, minimize exposure to filth: keep hands off piercing, avoid lakes, rivers, ponds, and pools unless chlorinated.
INTERNAL PIERCING
- Rinse twice daily with sea salt mixed in warm water.
- Avoid contact with genitals for two weeks.
- DO NOT use mouth washes containing alcohol.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. DOES IT HURT?
There will be pain and discomfort during the procedure. The amount of pain depends on the location of the piercing. We have found in our experience, that people do not experience as much pain as they originally expected. Pain is also dependent upon the pain tolerance of the individual. It is important to remember that the procedure is relatively quick.
2. DO YOU USE A PIERCING GUN OR A NEEDLE?
For every piercing, including lobes, we use a needle. This causes the piercing area less trauma.
3. HOW LONG SHOULD IT TAKE FOR MY PIERCING TO HEAL?
It depends on the piercing and the person. Some piercings take 4 weeks to heal; others can take up to several months. Your piercer should go over this information with you at the end of your appointment. If you have questions about your specific piercing in regard to healing time, please call (512) 761-3972.
It WILL take LONGER for your piercing to heal if you over-clean, touch, or participate in any activity that irritates your new piercing.
4. WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY OVER-CLEAN?
Over-cleaning occurs when you clean your piercing more than 2-3 times a day. It is best to clean it only a few times a day and leave it alone the rest of the day.

6. IS IT SAFE?
Your health and safety is very important to us. We use single-use needles, and autoclaved sterilized clamps. Our piercers wear gloves and use sterilized jewelry.
7. IF I AM A MINOR AND I WANT A PIERCING, WHAT IS REQUIRED?
We require your parent to be present, a form of identification for him/her (such as a driver's license), and a legal form of identification for you (such as a driver's license or birth certificate)
